Here’s a summary of what we discussed on the Hannity radio show about Egypt, Iran & the Mideast peace process.

jerusalem-siloutte(Washington,  D.C.) — I just finished a very interesting conversation with Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert, who was guest hosting for Sean Hannity on his radio show. Pastor Michael Youssef of “Leading The Way,” originally from Egypt, also joined us on the program. Thanks to both of them for the questions they asked and the points they made. I appreciated being included in the conversation.
Here is a brief summary of what we discussed:
  • We talked about the dramatic changes in Egypt this past year, including the counter-revolution last July when the military arrested President Mohamed Morsi and most of the top leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood.
  • Now General Sisi and his forces are fighting the Brotherhood throughout Egypt, and fighting against al Qaeda in the Sinai. It’s still not an easy life for Egyptian Christians, or anyone in Egypt.
  • It’s too early to say whether Sisi will prove to be a positive force for Egypt over the long haul.
  • We need to keep praying for all Egyptians, and especially for the persecuted Christians there. But the three of us agreed that the situation is much improved from 2012.
  • [For more on this, see my recent blog, “Here’s my list of the Top Five most important events in the Mideast in 2013.”]
  • We discussed the dangers of the Shia Muslims in Iran and elsewhere who believe their messiah, the “Twelfth Imam” (or “Mahdi”), is coming soon. We discussed how determined Iran’s Twelver leaders are to annihilate Israel (the “Little Satan,” in their view) and the U.S. (whom they call the “Great Satan.”)
  • We also discussed the Mideast peace process and Secretary Kerry’s visit to Jerusalem today. This is a very important and very sensitive topic. We all want peace between Israelis and Palestinians. I definitely do. I believe we need to keep praying and working towards peace. After all, the Lord Jesus Christ told us in Matthew 5, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” The Psalmist told us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6). We must be faithful to those commands.
  • That said, Rep. Gohmert asked me about two specific Bible prophecies. One prophecy he quoted is from Jeremiah 31:1-6. This passage indicates that Israel will be reborn as a country and will resettle the land of “Samaria,” the territory many call the “West Bank.” The second prophecy he quoted was Joel 3:2. In this passage, the Lord vows to bring into judgment all nations that divide the Land of Israel.
  • I noted that it’s not often we talk about Bible prophecy on the Hannity show, but I’m glad we did today. It’s important.
  • Presidents, Prime Ministers and diplomats don’t like to discuss prophecy, but it’s important that they are aware of and understand these important Biblical truths.
  • Yes, ancient Bible prophecy tells us Israel would be reborn in the last days, and it has been.
  • Yes, prophecy tells us the Jewish people will resettle Samaria. That is happening, though I realize it deeply angers the Palestinian people, including many Arab Christians.
  • Yes, prophecy tells us that all nations (including the U.S.) that divide the Land of Israel will be judged.
  • These are not easy passages for everyone to hear. They are not easy to teach since many are upset by them. But as Christians we know there are consequences for ignoring or opposing the Scriptures.
  • As Christians, we must be particularly aware that these are sensitive issues. We as evangelicals need to be careful in how we handle these prophecies. Many of our friends in the Mideast don’t agree with them. Some are angered when these topics are raised. I don’t want to hurt my Palestinian friends. I don’t want to be insensitive to their very real day-to-day challenges and concerns. I know the Israeli government and military are not made up of believers. They make serious mistakes that affect the Palestinians in very real ways. Indeed, both sides have long lists of grievances against each other.
  • That said, as a lay person who does not work in or for the U.S. or Israeli government, or any government, I don’t have the ability to affect the geopolitical state of affairs in the epicenter.
  • Rather, as an author and speaker I see my role as helping people understand what is happening in the Middle East; teaching the Scriptures, including the prophecies; and helping Christians (and all people) in the U.S. and around the world understand the Biblical importance of loving Israeli Jews, Israeli Arabs, Palestinian Arabs, Arabs throughout the Mideast, Persians, and all the people of the Middle East.
  • I want to encourage people to pray for peace, and to invest in ways to bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus. We need to proactively show love to both sides. We need to encourage persecuted believers. We need to help local pastors teach the Word of God. We need to provide food, clothing and medical supplies to those in need, both Jews and Arabs.
  • God doesn’t tell us to love Jews OR Arabs. It’s not “either/or.” It’s “both/and.” We must love Jews AND Arabs. That’s what Jesus did. That’s what He commands us to do.
  • Let’s work together to be faithful to the task.

Is Christmas offensive to Jewish people? It shouldn’t be, says Orthodox Jewish author and radio host.

Merry-Christmas-mangerHere’s a fascinating column by Dennis Prager, a devoutly religious American Jewish author and host of a nationally syndicated radio program.

————————-

Mazel Tov, Christians! Most Jews wish you a Merry Christmas.

By Dennis Prager, December 24, 2013, National Review

As a Jew, and a religious one at that, I want to wish my fellow Americans a Merry Christmas.

Not “Happy Holidays.” Merry Christmas.

I write, “my fellow Americans” because, as reported by the Pew Research poll released just last Wednesday, nine in ten Americans say they celebrate Christmas.

Apparently, many Americans have forgotten that Christmas is not only a Christian holy day, but also an American national holiday. Just as we wish one another a “Happy Thanksgiving” or a “Happy Fourth,” so, too, we should wish fellow Americans a “Merry Christmas.”

It doesn’t matter with which religion or ethnic group you identify; Christmas in America is as American as the proverbial apple pie. That is why some of the most famous and beloved Christmas songs were written by . . . guess who? Jews.

  • “White Christmas” was written by Irving Berlin (birth name: Israel Isidore Baline).
  • “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” — Johnny Marks.
  • “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” — composed by Jule Styne, lyrics by Sammy Cahn.
  • “Silver Bells” — by Jay Livingston (Jacob Harold Levison) and Ray Evans (Raymond Bernard Evans).
  • “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)” — Mel Tormé and Robert Wells (Robert Levinson), both Jews.
  • “Sleigh Ride” — lyrics by Mitchell Parish (Michael Hyman Pashelinsky).

There are many others as well.

The notion that non-Christians are excluded is absurd.

Americans who feel “excluded” are not excluded. They have decided to feel excluded. Which is, of course, entirely their right to do; no one forces anyone to celebrate any American holiday. But attempts to remove Christmas from the public sphere are destructive to our society. It would be as if Jehovah’s Witnesses attempted to remove public celebrations and references to the Fourth of July because they don’t celebrate national holidays.

Why are these attempts destructive? Because the entire society — Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and atheists as well as Christians — benefits from the goodness and joy that the Christmas season engenders.

It never occurred to my Orthodox Jewish family not to enjoy this season. It was a tradition in our home to watch the Christmas Mass from the Vatican every Christmas Eve (unless it was a Friday evening, and therefore the Sabbath, when no television watching was allowed). Had you visited our home, you would have seen my mother — and my father, my brother, and me, all wearing our kippot (Jewish skullcaps) — watching Catholics celebrate Christmas.

Nor did it ever occur to my brother, Dr. Kenneth Prager, an Orthodox Jew, not to sing Christmas songs when he was a member of the Columbia University Glee Club. He happily sang not only secular Christmas songs, but religious Christ-centered Christmas songs as well.

So when and why did this pernicious nonsense of non-Christians being “excluded” by public celebrations of Christmas develop?

It is nothing more than another destructive product of the 1960s and 1970s, when the Left came to dominate much of the culture….

Newsweek’s David Freedlander (Who? Exactly) Has Never Heard of Mark Levin, Best-selling Author, Famed Litigator, and Top Radio Host

I daresay that anyone reading the old, failed Newsweek Magazine — now renamed The Daily Beast — is well aware of Mark Levin. Levin, the author of five New York Times bestsellers and the president of Landmark Legal Foundation, is heard by roughly 10 million people each week.

Yet someone named “David Freedlander” — if that is his real name — begins a lengthy article with the bizarre assertion that a wide swath of Democrats, liberals and other miscreants are unfamiliar with Levin. I assure you that’s not the case. Entitled “Radio’s Mark Levin Might Be the Most Powerful Conservative You Never Heard Of“, his amateurish “exposé” is riddled with typos, grammatical gaffes, and problematic diction:

• “…understand the issues form a different perspective…”

“Form”? Is that a new turn of phrase? Or just the hastily typed missive of a hack?

• “…He has no problem rewriting statues…”

“Statues”? Someone’s rewriting statues?

• “I don’t why when…”

Eh?

• “…but are rally just leaders of their own movement…”

Rally? Really?

• “… have you ever heard of a party attacking its base.”

Is that a question?

The article is flatly embarrassing, but — frankly — not unexpected for a magazine that was recently sold for a tidy, shiny silver dollar.

I suspect if Levin had known how pathetic Freedlander’s writing skills were, he’d never have agreed to spending time discussing economics, philosophy, law and history with him.

Here’s a heads up, David. The reason Levin and other conservatives have mobilized millions is because we are losing our country.

Democrats are openly calling for the arrest of their political opponents.

The administration has tripled warrantless wiretaps of U.S. citizens (according to the ACLU) and is data-mining all of the phone records of 300 million Americans.

The president lied — repeatedly — to the American people about the murder of a U.S. ambassador and has never revealed what actions he took when first informed of the terror attack.

The Obama White House also unquestionably used the IRS to target its political opponents prior to the 2012 reelection campaign; this was one of the proposed articles of impeachment against President Richard M. Nixon.

The president ignored the Senate’s advice and consent role, becoming the first to unilaterally declare the upper chamber in recess over a long weekend to name radical leftists to the National Labor Relations Board. This lawless act was completely rejected by two separate U.S. Courts of Appeal.

The administration also was held in contempt of Congress for unlawfully hiding documents on its “gun-walking” program in which Eric Holder’s Justice Department knowingly sent thousands of firearms and grenades to Mexican drug cartels. This effort was clearly intended to demonize American gun-owners and set the stage for further erosion of the Second Amendment.

The administration has become increasingly hostile to the press, targeting wide numbers of journalists at the Associated Press and even wiretapping the parents of Fox reporter James Rosen.

The White House even “developed its own network of websites, social media and even created an online newscast to dispense favorable information and images,” an act unprecedented in American history and consistent with the actions of a dictatorship.

And that’s just the short list. The complete list is here.

So, Davey — can I call you, Davey? No? Too bad — we regular Americans see that we’re in the process of losing our country to fanatical, hard left progressives that are doing their level best to install what can only be called a fascist government in the United States.

This isn’t the Democrat Party of JFK, a tax-cutting advocate for strong national security. The Democrat Party is now controlled by radical sixties retreads who continue expanding the welfare state even as the country runs up massive deficits. These tactics are called “Cloward-Piven Government” and are naked attempts to destroy capitalism.

The facts are unassailable.

Because he is cognizant of history, facts, logic and reason — and Freedlander clearly is not — Levin has attracted millions of like-minded Americans who worry about massive deficits, lawless presidents, and a Beltway elite that is more concerned with the needs of illegal aliens than their own constituents.

David Freedlander’s writing appears to be consistent with the level of his intellect, which is to say: he’s a drone.

President Obama helpfully warns Americans to stop listening to talk radio and reading blogs

Guest post by Tyler Durden

Fast forward to 5’40″ in Obama’s speech delivered earlier today.

It is here that he makes the following statement:

“Now that the government has reopened and this threat to our economy is removed, all of us need to stop focusing on the lobbyists, and the bloggers, and the talking heads on radio and the professional activists who profit from conflict, and focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do, and that’s grow this economy, create good jobs, strengthen the middle class, educate our kids, lay the foundation for broad-based prosperity and get our fiscal house in order for the long haul.”

We will ignore the irony of a president talking about “profiting from conflict” when less than two months ago the world was on the verge of World War III over a fabricated, false flag-driven invasion “confirmed” by YouTube clips, and designed entirely by this administration to further (and profit) its Saudi and Qatari interests, and which was halted in the last minute thanks to none other than the Russian president, and ask: instead of stopping to “focus on bloggers” who merely do the math in a world in which math is long forgotten, let’s for one month, week or day, simply halt the Federal Reserve’s circular monetary authority which now purchases virtually all issued US Treasurys that carry any duration risk.

We wonder what that would do to interest rates, to the US debt-issuance and deficit-funding machinery, to the already crippled reserve status of the dollar, to the real default threat of a country that has long passed its Minsky Ponzi point, and to the same once great nation that cemented its world-dominance not thanks to a central bank funding a government which has spent in the past 5 years almost as much as in all of its prior history, but due to the encouragement of the entrepreneurial spirit, to minimal government meddling in (and illegal supervision of) all affairs of man and commerce, to allowing not only the reward of success but the risk of failure, and most importantly to allowing capitalism to reign free once again, if only for a brief period of time.

We will not even engage the question of just how much “wealth effect” has been left on the table with the Fed not actively monetizing all US debt in 95 years of its 100 years of existence, and certainly not engage in trite religious sermonizing written by a recently graduated drama major-cum-teleprompter operator.
