ANTI-AMERICAN ELITISTS: Ex-Justice John Paul Stevens and Michael Bloomberg Defile the Constitution

Guest post by Gun Owners of America

“The founders did not establish a right to bear arms… They assumed it already existed [and] said that it ‘shall not be infringed.’ But gun-control advocates frequently want to skip over those words.”

Gun Owners of America joined a chorus of pro-gun organizations in slamming idiotic comments made recently by former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.

In a newly released book, Justice Stevens said the Second Amendment should be altered to say that people only have the right to bear arms “when serving in the militia.”

GOA blasted the comments, adding that gun owners would welcome the opportunity to demolish Stevens’ arguments in the court of public opinion.

“Bring on the debate,” said GOA Communications Director Erich Pratt in an interview with Newsmax over the weekend. Gun control advocates are always “pushing for draconian gun restrictions” while hiding behind words like “gun safety.”

But to a gun banner, those words are code for, “We just want the military and the police to have guns,” Pratt said. “So let’s get them out of the closet.”

Gun owners need not worry about Stevens’ idea gaining traction. Even an anti-gun liberal, like Professor Alan Dershowitz, opposes Stevens’ proposal.

“You don’t amend the Magna Carta,” Dershowitz said. “You don’t amend the Bill of Rights. There are certain things that you just leave pristine.”

GOA agrees. And increasingly, so do the American people.

Polls show more Americans opposing gun control

Remember all the phony polls which were used by Obama last year in order to push gun control?

Remember the unrelenting unilateral media pressure to ban guns — pressure reflected in even the “conservative” media?

Well, who’s laughing now?

Tuesday, the liberal USA Today was forced to concede that even liberal pollsters have found a massive, cataclysmic shift by Americans in favor of the right to keep and bear arms.

We bet that USA Today trolled all of the polls for some evidence that Americans embraced gun control to the same extent as their editorial board. What they found was a liberal Pew poll — conducted immediately after last year’s Newtown vote in April — that found that Americans were statistically evenly divided between pro-gunners and anti-gunners. Okay, it’s a liberal poll.

But what was even more interesting is that, in 2000, the same poll, asking the same questions, had found Americans supporting gun control by a margin of 66% to 29% — a 37% gap in favor of gun control.

And Pew is not alone.

Later in 2013, Gallup found that 51% of all Americans do not support stricter gun control. In 2000, that number was 38% — with 62% of Americans supposedly favoring more anti-gun laws.

Of course, 2000 was the year when gun owners confounded the pollsters and elected George Bush as president, over the anti-gun Democratic candidate, Al Gore.

Hence, you shouldn’t trust the polls. But when liberal gun grabbers are forced to concede that the polls are against them, that tells you something really interesting.

So, guess what, in this Easter week, we note that even Satan quotes scripture when he has no choice.

Bloomberg gets it really, really wrong

Speaking of the forces of darkness quoting Scripture, anti-gun former Mayor Michael Bloomberg chose this Easter week to try his hand at some biblical exposition.

But before we tell you about his whopper, Bloomberg made headlines on Wednesday after announcing his “threat” to spend $ 50 million to change people’s hearts and minds in favor of gun control.

Never mind the fact that Bloomberg has anything but the Midas touch when it comes to pushing gun control, as he’s lost almost every battle where he’s spent his millions.

“I guess he’s free to do so; he’s got money to waste,” said GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt on MSNBC. “But frankly, I think he’s going to find out why his side keeps losing.”

Indeed, Bloomberg lost in Nevada last year, where he tried to get a universal gun registry and universal background checks enacted.

He lost in Colorado, where he tried to rescue two state senators from being recalled because of their gun control votes.

And he lost in the U.S. Senate, where a concealed carry amendment actually garnered more Senate votes than did his proposal for expanding background checks on guns.

But it’s not just on guns where he gets it wrong. Obviously proud of his efforts in pushing firearms restrictions, Bloomberg said this week that:

“If there is a God, when I get to heaven, I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I’m heading right in. I’ve earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Wow, if he thinks he’s blessed because of his efforts to disarm the public, he should consider passages like I Samuel 13:16-22, where arms control was considered a curse; and Luke 22:36, where Jesus told His disciples to sell their cloaks and buy a sword (if they didn’t already have one).

And as for breezing right through the pearly gates, without an interview, and gaining entrance on the basis of his own very tainted efforts? Does he really think that he can buy his way into heaven because of the millions he’s spent on “social issues”?

Most people would find that disgusting.

Sadly, it appears that Bloomberg has no idea what this Easter weekend is all about. And so on that note, we here at Gun Owners of America hope that you and your family will have a blessed holiday.

ALLEN WEST: We may finally know why John Boehner is helping to cover up the Benghazi debacle

Guest post by Allen West

The intricate web spun around the incident at Benghazi seems to have no end. It is really quite shameful for this nation that we have come this far and still have no resolution as to what truly occurred that fateful night of September 11, 2012 — nor do we have a select committee with subpoena powers, despite broad support in the House.

However, there are some who embody the highest level of journalistic integrity and will not allow this story to fade away. One of those individuals is Catherine Herridge of Fox News. Her recent analysis brings forth more questions than answers about how a particular consulting firm, Beacon Global Strategies, is entwined with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others involved with the controversy.

As Herridge reports, Beacon Global Strategies employs former CIA Acting Director Mike Morell, Philippe Reines, whom the New York Times magazine recently described as Clinton’s “principal gatekeeper” and who traveled with her to over a hundred countries, Jeremy Bash, former chief of staff to Leon Panetta and Andrew Shapiro, a Clinton policy adviser at the State Department whose portfolio included ridding Libya of shoulder-launched missiles called MANPADs.

But this is also a bipartisan mess, as Beacon Global Strategies also employs J. Michael Allen, who was a former majority staff director for the House Intelligence Committee.

For the full report by Catherine Herrdige, click here.

One just has to become more and more suspect about what happened in Benghazi, but even more concerning, will we ever ascertain the truth?

Herridge’s report does nothing to dispel my belief there is bipartisan culpability on Benghazi and hence why, even with a majority of House support, we do not have a select committee with subpoena powers.

There are far too many lies, cover-ups, and unanswered questions — not to mention secrecy and questionable maneuvers. I believe one day America will come to know that Benghazi was one of the darkest days in our history, and our government sought to hide the truth.

AND THEN THERE WERE THREE: Meet John Boehner’s Challengers in the OH-8 Republican Primary

I’m going to perform some due diligence on the trio opposing John Boehner and then try to rally your support for the heir apparent:

The Speaker of the House, Rep. John Boehner has drawn three GOP primary challengers – Matthew Ashworth of Hamilton, Eric Gurr of Middletown, and J.D. Winteregg of Troy. On the Democratic side, four candidates filed: Matthew Guyette of Greenville, Tom Poetter of Oxford, Morton Meier of Hamilton, and Robert Edward Crow of Youngstown (congressional candidates are not required to live in the districts where they run.)

The way Al Jazeera puts it (no link, for obvious reasons):

…a man by the name of J.D. Winteregg announced he would challenge Boehner on May 6 to represent Ohio’s Eighth Congressional District. He joined two others: Eric Gurr, a businessman, and Matthew Ashworth, founder of the United Tea Party Alliance, a group affiliated with FreedomWorks, a conservative nonprofit organization with millions at its disposal to target Republicans who are perceived as insufficiently doctrinaire [sic].

Of the three declared opponents, Winteregg appears to be the most serious threat. He avoids the inflammatory statements of some of his tea party [sic] associates, and he has impeccable conservative credentials. He cut his teeth working for the Senate Conservatives Fund, a PAC founded by former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, who is now the head of the Heritage Foundation, a leading conservative think tank. The Senate Conservatives Fund was founded expressly to purge the GOP of perceived apostasy [sic]. October’s government shutdown was the purest expression of its politics [sic].

Visit J.D. Winteregg’s website for starters and read his 2013 interview with the Examiner.

Rep. Ryan, your statements are absolute, utter bulls***. [If that’s offensive to you, come to Phoenix, we’ll take you to the border. You’ll see what “offensive” really is.]

This policy is clearly amnesty and the border will not be secured. You and the spineless Democrats and especially Republican “moderates” who are bought and paid for by the Chamber of Commerce don’t want the border secured. If you did, you’d have been raising hell since any of the previous immigration bills were passed ALL of which required the border to be secured.” –Minority Report

A Plan for Dealing With John Boehner

Originally posted on 24 July 2013, I am republishing this as we find out more about the Amnesty bill the GOP Establishment wants to ram down our throats. Such an action would prove triply suicidal for the RNC as it would: (a) destroy what little unity exists between the conservative base (which makes up the majority of the Republican grassroots) and the old guard; (b) hand Barack Obama a stunning victory on the heels of the Obamacare debacle; and (c) prove once and for all that the Beltway Ruling Class is bought and paid for by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the rest of the corporatists.

I think we can all agree that John Boehner is a complete and utter failure as House Speaker. Marble-mouthed, unprincipled, double-dealing and cowardly are among the more positive attributes I can think of. Consider the man’s actions over the two-and-a-half years that have elapsed since the Tea Party movement and Constitutional Conservatives brought him to power:

• Despite an unprecedented series of White House scandals — including, but not limited to gun-running to Mexican drug cartels, the Benghazi cover-up, IRS-gate, and repeated perjurious testimony to Congress — John Boehner refuses to name a Select Investigative Committee or demand a Special Prosecutor.

• In fact, in the case of the Benghazi cover-up, even though 75 percent of House Republicans want a Select Committee formed, Boehner refuses. That’s right: John Boehner refuses to name a Special Committee on Benghazi, with dedicated budget, resources and staff — and won’t even tell us why.

• And what could be the reason? Some have speculated that Boehner has secretly cut a deal with Democrats in exchange for, well, who knows? Suffice it to say that if John Boehner is negotiating for you, you’re going to walk out of the room wearing only your underwear. My guess is he really has cut a secret deal with Obama and Reid, perhaps regarding the debt ceiling or some other act of surrender that sells out the American people in exchange for his consolidation of more power.

• And what is John Boehner’s top priority right now? That’s right: Amnesty. Legalizing tens of millions of illegal aliens, which we know for a fact will vote by a stunning 8-to-1 margin for Democrats. Brilliant.

• As for de-funding Obamacare? That, too, Boehner refuses to do, instead holding fan-dance votes to repeal Obamacare, knowing that said bills will never see the light of day in the Senate. The Constitution grants the House of Representatives the power of the purse. Boehner could de-fund Obamacare — completely — if he wished, letting Obama try to rally support for his despotic and failed testament to central planning. But this Boehner will not do, because it requires brains, courage, principles and cojones.

So what do we do about John Boehner?

While there are grassroots efforts emerging to primary Boehner in Ohio’s 8th District — and we wish them all possible success — the time has come to consider an alternative plan. A nuclear option, if you will.

Assuming that Boehner wins his primary in OH-8, I suggest we rally support among Tea Party and Constitutional Conservatives in that district to vote. To vote Democrat.

That single seat has virtually no chance of swinging the majority in the House one way or the other. A newly elected Democrat in that very Red seat will be a back-bencher and virtually powerless. This will give time to the district (and it is a very conservative district by all accounts) to assemble a credible candidate should one not emerge in 2014.

I would never advocate such a tactic in the Senate even though Mitch McConnell is Boehner-lite. In the Senate the odds of taking majority control are simply too tempting to chance returning the dimwitted crackpot from Searchlight, Nevada to a seat of power.

But Boehner, on the other hand, is such an egregious failure, such a cowardly and un-principled operator, that he must be ripped out of the Speaker’s chair by any means necessary.

Let’s see what happens in OH-8, but I suggest we fund and vociferously support any — and I do mean any — Boehner opponent. Enough is enough.
