THANK A DETROITOCRAT: The Number of Americans Who Left the Labor Force Hits Another All-Time High

I’m trying to get the term “Detroitocrats” — referring, of course, to the members of the hard left Democrat Party who ruin everything they touch — popularized. Today’s jobs report can only help my cause.

…The number of Americans who are 16 years or older and who have decided not to participate in the nation’s labor force has climbed to a record 90,609,000 in September…

…In January 2009, when President Barack Obama took office, there were 80,507,000 Americans not in the labor force. Thus, the number of Americans not in the labor force has increased by 10,102,000 during Obama’s presidency…

Please take a closer look at the chart. Notice that around May of 2010, when Obamacare was jammed through Congress without a single Republican vote, the labor-force participation rate started heading south. And it hasn’t let up since.

In fact, less than 150,000 people in the U.S. — total — found work last month. That’s less than 3,000 people per state — or about the number of people who attend a high school football game.

…just 148,000 people found work last month.

“I think it is an absolute disaster,” says Brian Sozzi, chief equity strategist at Belus Capital Advisors in the attached video, where he calls today’s release a “horrifically depressing report.”
As Sozzi sees it, “there’s stuff going on out there in the economy that nobody is talking about.”

Specifically, he cites the need to listen to what companies such as Stanley Black & Decker (SWK) and Hasbro (HAS) are telling us this earnings season, and to take heed of the restructuring plans, earnings misses, and soft revenue results.

The Detroitocrat Party is literally turning all of America into Detroit.

They have no blueprint, no master plan, no overarching document describing their endgame they can share with us. They will continue to tinker, to social-engineer, to “fix” society using increasingly totalitarian methods to address the “non-compliant”.

And like D.C., like Chicago, and — yes — like Detroit and all of the other bankrupt cities in California, jobs, opportunity and hope will disappear from the landscape like a wheat field devastated by a swarm of locusts.

Fifth earthquake in 5 days hits Israel. Bible warns of catastrophic earthquakes in Israel in the “last days.”

Every 80 years or so, Israel has a major, catastrophic earthquake. So Israelis know they are “due” for a “big one.”

Those who pay attention to Bible prophecy also know that both the Old and New Testament Scriptures describe major earthquakes occurring in Israel in the last days.

Earthquake preparations are on the increase by government agencies and among private companies and such preparations will now accelerate, especially in the wake of five minor earthquakes in Israel in the course of the past five days. Among the steps being taken: a new earthquake alert system is being developed by the government and is expected to be ready in 2016.

“Israel’s last major earthquake rattled the region in 1927″ reports the Times of Israel, was “a 6.2-magnitude tremor that killed 500 and injured another 700.” Before that, “an earthquake in 1837 left as many as 5,000 people dead.”

“A small earthquake shook the Sea of Galilee area on Tuesday morning, the fifth such tremor in less than a week,” noted the Times. “The quake, measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, caused no reported damage or injuries.”

“On Sunday, two minor earthquakes, both measuring 3.6 in intensity, were reported in the north, which followed similar quakes on Saturday and Thursday,” the Times noted. “No injuries have been reported, although some buildings in Tiberias were lightly damaged by the tremors. Last Sunday, a 6.4-magnitude quake, centered in the Mediterranean Sea near Crete, was felt in Athens, Egypt and Israel….In response to the string of temblors, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a special cabinet meeting Monday to discuss the state’s earthquake preparedness, and, on Sunday, the Home Front Command and emergency services representatives held a meeting to discuss emergency procedures in the case of a more major earthquake.”

In Epicenter, I note that Bible prophecy warns of several catastrophic earthquakes that will strike Israel in the “last days.” For example:

  • “It will come about on that day when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” declares the Lord God, “that My fury will mount up in My anger. In My zeal and in My blazing wrath, I declare that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; the mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.” (Ezekiel 38:18-20)
  • “I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind.” (Revelation 6:12-13)
  • “Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne saying, ‘It is done.’ And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. The great city [Jerusalem] was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell….” (Revelation 16:17-19)

Obama Labor Department Refutes Jay Carney: Average Entry-Level Work Week Hits All-Time Low

One the one hand, the Obama administration has formally dismissed all of the copious evidence that Obamacare is destroying jobs.

On the other hand, the Obama administration’s own Labor Department has released statistics that illustrate the unfolding economic catastrophe. Jed Graham explains:

Workers in low-wage industries clocked the shortest average workweek on record in July, new Labor Department data show.

The 29 million non-managerial workers in private-sector industries which pay up to about $ 14.50 per hour, on average, put in a 27.4-hour week, a level previously matched only at the depths of the recession in 2009.

As the recovery began that summer, average weekly hours staged a recovery that erased most of the recession’s decline. But the workweek recovery began to reverse in early 2012, and the drop-off has accelerated in 2013 — just as the onset of ObamaCare’s employer mandate created new incentives for employers to restrict workers to fewer than 30 hours per week.

…in industries for which ObamaCare’s coverage mandates could mean substantial new costs — those in which wages are low and the ranks of the uninsured tend to be high – something is seriously depressing the workweek.

…the average workweek for such firms has fallen to a record low of 27.3 hours from 28.6 hours in March 2010, when ObamaCare became law.

But according to White House spokesman Jay Carney, all of these statistics are just “anecdotes”.

Gee, I wonder why the big three networks haven’t picked up on this major human interest story? The poorest, most put-upon workers in America are being crushed by Obamacare. Not. News. Repeat: Not. News.

Map: Where You Don’t Want to Be When It Hits the Fan

When it hits the fan America’s population centers will explode in violence, looting, and total breakdown of law and order.

It’s a theory put forth by numerous survival and relocation specialists, and one that makes complete sense if you consider what happens in a truly serious collapse-like scenario.

Survival Blog founder James Rawles calls them the golden horde:

Because of the urbanization of the U.S. population, if the entire eastern or western power grid goes down for more than a week, the cities will rapidly become unlivable. I foresee that there will be an almost unstoppable chain of events:

Power -> water -> food distribution -> law and order -> arson fires -> full scale looting

In his recent documentary Strategic Relocation, retreat expert Joel Skousen echoes Rawles’ warnings:

The number one threat that I concentrate on. It’s not terrorism, it’s not natural disaster, it’s not even government or war.

The major threat is population density.

Because every crisis that threatens, even a local crisis, can turn exponential because of close proximity to people who cannot help themselves. Even good people panic in a crisis…

So, where should you be when it happens?

To find the answer, let’s consider where we shouldn’t be.

Recent U.S. census data indicates that out of the 3000 counties in the United States, fully 50% of the population lives in just 146.

If you want to have any chance of surviving a wide-spread catastrophic event by avoiding the hordes that will be searching for critical resources in its aftermath, then check out the following map to get a visual reference of the areas you want to stay away from.

When considering your retreat locations or emergency evacuation routes, be familiar with the population densities of the area you’re headed to, as well as those counties in your immediate vicinity.

In his book Patriots, James Rawles specifically points out that Highway 80, running through California, will be one of the busiest evacuation routes in the country as millions of people pour out of major cities to flee disaster or in search of  food.

So, no matter where you are located, consider your proximity to high traffic thoroughfares going in and out of the city. During Hurricane Rita, which hit Houston several years ago, every major pipeline out of the city was jammed for hundreds of miles. Interstate 45 from Houston to Dallas was bumper to bumper traffic. Normally a 4 hour trip, those who didn’t evacuate in time were stuck on the highway without food, gas, sanitation, or potable water for upwards of 15 hours.

This is why Joel Skousen suggests that those looking for strategic retreat locations or homes outside of major cities consider highway proximity. Be at least 5 – 7 miles away from any major thoroughfare, which is generally outside the range people want to venture off familiar roads, and far enough away to make any ‘walkers’ too tired to attempt the trip without ample clean water and food.

If you have no choice but to be in a major metro area during a serious emergency situation, consider strategies that can help you remain sustainable in the city even in the midst of panic.
