Survival supplies refer to the materials that are essential in keeping human life safe. Especially, when this activity involves isolation from ordinary survival tools, typically, this includes mountain climbing, nature hiking, camping and ordinary activities like plane travel or a cruise on a ship. Survival supplies do not necessarily guarantee a one hundred percent life saving activity, but these supplies will surely help in the worst of scenarios.
Survival supplies are usually included in life saving survival kits. But it is always advisable to take extra supplies just in case. These supplies may be used in basic shelter, first aid solutions, signal or call for rescuers, water and food provision, health needs, warming needs and tools that will help survivors find their way food. Different situations may require different survival skills. In the case of a shipwreck, swimming is a crucial survival skill as well as the ability to build a fire using the most unusual items.
Survival supplies are very much abundant in military surplus stores. Survival supplies are also available in coastal rescue agencies and in ocean vessels and commercial airplanes. Survival supplies are typically classified into these categories: warm or shelter supplies, first aid or medical supplies, water and food supplies, money, reference, navigation and signaling and utility tools.
Example of survival supplies for warmth and shelter are blankets, lighter or matches, mosquito repellants, aluminum reflective covering materials and raincoats or ponchos in case of being lost in a rainy region. First aid, health and medical supplies are bandages, aspirin, tablets for infection or diarrhea, razor, tweezers, first aid tape, gauze, sterile pads, toilet paper and soap. Of course survival is not just all about finding good shelter, you must also keep your self away from injuries and accidents. And during the event, make sure you have supplies that help heal the wounds or reduce pain while still waiting for rescuers.
Water is the most essential part of survival. Sadly, bringing clean bottled water with you is not sufficient but it’s a great idea if you can bring it with you. You may bring survival supplies like edible salt used for cleaning teeth and iodine tablets used for purifying water. Money may only be useful in case you made it in a foreign urban area. But in places where there are no communication lines, signaling supplies like torch and candles can help.
Remember, people have a natural instinct to survive. With the aid of survival supplies, it will not just help you stay alive, it will also help you get home quicker.
